Assist the Senior Director in overseeing the medical review and approval of promotional materials in development for Sepracor’s marketed products and other related medical support provided to the commercial organization, such as updating brand teams on new data that may be used promotionally. Responsible for overseeing the daily and long-term activities (i.e. coordination of Training and Development initiatives) of the Medical Affairs Specialists while also providing professional guidance. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of pertinent drug and CNS disease state knowledge in order to provide sound, scientifically balanced feedback. Be able to educate colleagues (cross-functional teams and Medical Affairs Specialists) on in depth CNS clinical data. Inform other functions of CRMA, including Medical Information, of newer commercial initiatives. Along with the Scientific Leads, attend symposia/sessions at professional society meetings, collect competitive intelligence, interact with opinion leaders and provide a summary of key activities to Medical Affairs/R&D.
Essential Functions 1. Effectively train/manage/mentor Medical Affairs Specialists; (30%);
-Assist with the training of Medical Affairs Specialists, in terms of roles and
responsibilities associated with the review of promotional materials

2. Assist with the creation and updating of operational standards related to the medical review
and approval of promotional materials; (10%)

3. Function as medical representative at PMRC discussions for Lunesta and Stedesa; (40%)

4. Serve as liaison to commercial organization for initiatives related to eslicarbazepine and
other CNS compounds in development; (10%)

6. Provide back-up support to Medical Affairs Specialists, when needed (such as back-up
coverage for PMRC meetings, escalated discussions related to a particular piece, etc); (5%)

7. Provide medical affairs coverage at various external meetings (including medical society
meetings and advisory meetings), on an as needed/available basis; (5%)
Minimum education requirements Bachelors
Experience required 3 - 5 Years
Knowledge & skills (general and technical) Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Pharmacy or Nursing.
Those with a Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree are preferred.

Minimum of 4 to 6 years within the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 2 years experience in the medical review/approval of promotional materials. Prior experience in respiratory (asthma, COPD or allergic rhinitis) OR CNS (schizophrenia, bi-polar, epilepsy, or insomnia) therapeutic areas is preferred.
